Raspberries With Sour Cream Custard

I love custard.  The first time I made a custard I was about seventeen years old.  I didn't have a clue as to what I was doing.  The recipe was from a friend in my congregation.  It was simple and straight forward and I followed it to the letter.  Yep, I still got a soupy mess of a custard.  It was so upsetting.

Now more than ten years later I have made quite a few custards.  Usually I put them alongside my pound cakes.  More often than not I tend to get a custard soup instead of that pudding like consistency.  This time around things worked out well.  My original recipe says to add raspberries as well as blueberries.  It was amazing!

I found the recipe for this custard at Taste of Home.  Try it out.  Just make sure that you are constantly stirring with whisk to keep from getting clumpys.  When you add the little bit of raw egg to the hot mixture keep going with that whisk and then whisk some more when you add in all the egg.
Seriously, this recipe gives you arm muscles.  Sometimes a day being a stay at home mom is a better work out than going to the gym!

Custard are tricky and are a lot of work, but if you can pull it off - nothing is better. I've been on a tight budget of late and haven't wanted to risk wasting ingredients on something no one would like, but I just may give it another go - you've inspired me, smiles. Hello, I'm your newest follower from the Tuesday blog hop and would love it if we could be blogging pals so come visit and follow my blog too okay? We're having a heat wave in New York right not - hope it's cooler on the other side of the pond.

Great recipe, but I know from experience that custard are tricky and do require a lot of elbow grease - so to speak - but you've inspired me, so maybe I'll have another go at it. New follower here from the Tuesday blog hop - hope you come visit and follow me too. I'd love another blogging buddie.
