Blueberry Crisp

This week I headed over to the grocery store and they had blueberries on sale for a $1.  I went blueberry crazy and  bought four pints but then thought I would head back over and buy four or five more.  They are so easy to freeze and keep for later.  Normally they go on sale in August and then we have blueberry crisp, blueberry muffins, and blueberry pancakes for days and days.  I LOVE IT!

As soon as my husband saw the packages in the refrigerator he asked if I would make the blueberry crisp I made last summer.  YEAH!  He's not really a sweet eater so when he asks for some sort of dessert then it must be pretty good.

I love this recipe from Better Homes and Gardens because its so simple and I always have the ingredients in my pantry.

First you start by mixing up the blueberries in sugar.  Then you make a topping with oats, flour, sugar, cinnamon, and butter.  It bakes up in about a half hour.  When it comes out of the oven it smells like brown sugar and cinnamon and the sides are bubbling out from under the topping.   You can eat it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.  I personally think its fine on its own.

I made this last night and it was absolutely delicious. I smothered it with ice cream. This is a really simple treat to make.

The fresh blueberry wait was finally over for me. I made blueberry muffins and they were absolutely delicious.

The blueberry crisp looks yummy. I haven't often made anything other than muffins using blueberries. I may have to try this one.
