I went over to one of my favorite little spots here in the city. Half Price Books is such a wonderful place. I always feel like a kid in a candy store when I go. I always head straight for the clearance section so I can pick out at least three of the $2.00 books. Then I move on to the cooking section and pick out a baking book from there. Ahhhh, bliss!
This last time I stumbled upon some old magazines for $.50. They had old In Style, Family Circle, and Bon Apetit. That is where I got my first recipe for the Fruit Festival.
Brown Butter Raspberry Tart!
The recipe has you make your own tart crust with lots of sugar and its amazing.
While this is in the oven baking you make the tart filling. This uses a lot of eggs and you constantly mix it all while adding in your browned butter. Once you arrange your raspberries over a cooled tart crust you pour the filling over top.
This bakes in the oven for about half an hour. I must admit this is my first tart.
I was very proud of my crust. The filling didn't seem quite right to me but the tangy raspberry flavor made all the difference in the world.
I devoured half of this before my dear hubby even got his first slice.
